The LIFE programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. The general objective of LIFE is to contribute to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and legislation by co-financing projects with European added value. It will then also contribute to the achievement of the objectives and targets of the Europe 2020 Strategy and the 7th Union Environmental Action Programme.

The European Commission has approved on April 30th 2014 in Brussels the funding of €282.6 million under the LIFE+ program, the European Union’s specific environment fund. This financing which aims at achieving sustainable growth through investment in a low carbon and resource efficient economy, represents an essential financial support for added value environmental and nature conservation projects with a significant increased budget, for the period 2014-2020.
